United ‘Now Turning’ To 60M Rated Serie A Star As They Consider De Jong ‘Alternatives’

Manchester United are “now turning” their attention back towards Lazio playmaker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as they assess potential “alternatives” to Frenkie de Jong, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Serbian was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford earlier this year, but Erik ten Hag’s preference for de Jong led to the Manchester side cooling their interest in the Lazio star.

However, with a move for de Jong running into serious difficulties, the Red Devils have been forced into considering their options, and Milinkovic-Savic has come back onto the radar.

Other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, have been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old over the past week or so but the midfielder’s €70m (£60m) asking price is reportedly putting off buyers.

With United said to be prepared to pay €85m (£72m) for de Jong, though, you would think that meeting Lazio’s valuation for Milinkovic-Savic wouldn’t be much of an issue. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
