‘Best Performance In A United Shirt’ ‘Literally Everywhere’ Fans Praise Player Who Made 11 Ball Recoveries Against Chelsea

Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was one of the home side’s best performers as the Red Devils deservedly beat Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

The Moroccan international was recalled to the starting lineup by Erik ten Hag and he rewarded his manager with an energetic display that saw him recover possession 11 times, more than any other player on the pitch.

Supporters on X were quick to praise Amrabat, who has had his problems with fitness and form during his first few months at the club:

Amrabat needs to build on this performance

Since arriving from Fiorentina in the summer, the 27-year-old hasn’t really made a good impression, with there even being suggestions that the club could end up sending him back to Italy next year, despite paying a €10m loan fee.

Amrabat had looked a pale shadow of the player who lit up the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he helped guide Morocco to the semi-finals of the competition. If his Chelsea display is indicative of what is to come from him, though, it seems he may well have turned a corner.

United showed the fight and desire that was lacking against Newcastle

Amrabat was one of many players who showed the necessary fighting spirit versus Chelsea; something that was so lacking in their previous defeat at St James’ Park.

Ten Hag will be hoping that the performance midweek sets the tone for important fixtures to come over the Christmas period.
