David Ornstein Provides New Update On Erik Ten Hag’s Future At United After “Links” To Ex-Chelsea Boss

INEOS are not looking to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager, according to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein.

The trusted journalist claims that interest in Dan Ashworth and other former Brighton recruitment staff had led to “links” being made to former Seagulls and Chelsea boss Graham Potter. However, Ornstein says INEOS are set to keep faith with ten Hag:

“They’ve been linked with Kyle Macaulay, who is an analyst at Chelsea, [who] used to work with Dan Ashworth at Brighton. Sam Jewell, the recruitment specialist at Brighton used to work with Dan Ashworth, although it’s more likely that he’ll go to Chelsea.”

“And that has all prompted links that maybe the future manager is Graham Potter! As far as I know, INEOS are fond of Erik ten Hag and they look to build forward with him for the time being.”

Four wins in a row have secured ten Hag’s position

The 2-1 win over Luton Town at the weekend means it’s now four consecutive victories for the Red Devils. They are closing in on the Champions League places, three points off Tottenham in fifth and five adrift of Aston Villa in fourth.

Prior to this run, though, there had been increasing speculation about ten Hag’s future. The Manchester club looked to be heading for a mid-table finish but there is now a lot more optimism that this team can have a strong end to the season.

What is the latest on Dan Ashworth’s move to United?

Newcastle have put their sporting director on gardening leave after the 52-year-old asked to leave his position at the Magpies.

It is now up to the Red Devils and INEOS to negotiate a compensation package with Ashworth‘s club. At the moment, there is said to be a sizeable difference between the two sides with Newcastle reportedly demanding £20m.
