United Star Is Now Worth FOUR Times What He Was Two Years Ago

Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot has seen his Transfermarkt value increase massively from €10m to €40m since 2021.

After returning from his loan spell at AC Milan, the Portuguese international began to establish himself as a first-team regular under successive managers.

Current head coach Erik ten Hag started Dalot 24 times in the Premier League during his first season in charge of the Red Devils, demonstrating how highly the Dutchman rates the defender.

The 24-year-old has improved nearly every aspect of his game as he enters the prime of his career, having now become United’s first choice right-back.

Back in December, former Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre praised Dalot for the way the Portuguese star has grabbed his opportunity in the first team:

“He was given a chance and has done really well at United as he didn’t have much game time at the start of his United career. He’s made that position his.”

Dalot compares favourably to other Portuguese fullbacks

If you look at his compatriots, Dalot is valued more highly than Raphael Guerreiro (€20m) and Nelson Semedo (€15m), while he isn’t far behind the likes of Joao Cancelo (€50m) and Nuno Mendes (€65m).

In fact, at international level, the fullback has featured more and more prominently over the past couple of years, having started three matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, playing in the final group stage game against South Korea, as well as in the last 16 and quarter-final.

Since then, Dalot has also been named in the starting lineup for two of the last four European Championship qualifiers, getting the full 90 minutes in the wins over Luxembourg and Iceland. His development as a player has been rewarded with regular minutes for both club and country, and he will be hoping to continue on this upward trajectory next campaign.
