United Named Among 3 PL Clubs ‘Still’ Pursuing ‘Highly Courted’ Ligue One Defender Who Could Cost 43M

Manchester United are “still” keeping tabs on “highly courted” Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile, according to Nice Matin.

The French publication claim that the 21-year-old remains on United’s radar, but there are a number of other teams (including Chelsea, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla) who are also keen on the centre-back.

Badiashile has been scouted by the Red Devils for a number of years but, despite there being reports of bids in the past, the Manchester club have never made a serious move to secure the player’s signature.

Whether things will be any different this summer, we shall have to wait and see. Signing a left-footed centre-half is on the agenda but the likes of Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez are believed to be higher up the list of priorities.

Monaco are expected to hold out for between €50m (£43m) and €60m (£52m) to sell Badiashile as well, so it seems unlikely that United will make any concerted effort to sign him, despite their longstanding interest.
