Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera wants to stay at Old Trafford, according to reports in the local media.

The Basque star’s current deal with the Red Devils expires in the summer and rumours had begun circulating that he was closing in on a pre-contract agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

However, it is believed Herrera is intent on staying with United for the long term after becoming a key player following the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

Since the arrival of the Norwegian in December, the 29-year-old has featured in all but one of United’s games when he has been fit. A hip injury has, though, meant that he hasn’t played since the 0-0 draw against Liverpool last month.

Herrera signed for United in a deal worth £30m back in 2014 and he has gone on to make 186 appearances for the club across five seasons. This campaign, he has played 25 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and contributing three assists.
