United May Have To See Off Challenge From Rival PL Club To Land 34M Rated Serie A Defender

Manchester United are likely to be joined by Chelsea in the battle to sign Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Dutchman is expected to be sold if a team matches his €40m (£34m) asking price, with the Nerazzurri keen to raise funds from player sales in order to balance the books.

United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be keen on signing a new right-back this summer, but it has been claimed that the club will need to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka first.

There are teams, including his former club Crystal Palace, who are believed to be interested in signing the 24-year-old but there have been no official bids received for the defender so far.

Whether the delay in selling Wan-Bissaka will allow Chelsea to move ahead of United in the race to snap up Dumfries, we shall have to wait and see.
