Ex-Chelsea Boss Reportedly Left Club As He Is “Convinced Of Getting An Offer From United”

Thomas Tuchel may have snubbed the chance of staying at Bayern Munich because he is “convinced” that he will be offered the Manchester United job, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

Writing in his Daily Briefing column, Falk said that he has heard on the grapevine that the former Chelsea manager is hoping to replace Erik ten Hag in the dugout at Old Trafford:

“Ten Hag led the Red Devils to victory in the FA Cup final yesterday, but his future remains uncertain, with some figures at Bayern Munich feeling that Thomas Tuchel left the club because he was convinced of getting an offer from United.”

Tuchel is known to be among the options that INEOS are considering if they do decide to sack ten Hag but there is no guarantee that he will be offered the role.

Who are the candidates to become United’s next head coach?

In addition to Tuchel, two other former Chelsea managers, Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter, are thought to be in the running to succeed ten Hag.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna and Brentford’s Thomas Frank are also said to have already held talks with INEOS about the position.

Will ten Hag be sacked by United?

While there has been one report (from The Guardian) stating the Dutchman is set to be fired; other news outlets have been more cautious in their reporting.

INEOS are expected to conduct an end-of-season review where ten Hag’s performance will be assessed. The FA Cup final victory and Europa League qualification will be factored into their deliberations.

However, the club’s worst finish in Premier League history can’t be overlooked either. It’s a massive decision, and it appears Tuchel will be one of those paying close attention to what happens to United’s manager.
