United Making Progress With Morata Transfer

Manchester United’s search for a striker had seemingly died down over the past week with media attention focusing mainly on rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford. With this in mind, it was heavily reported that Chelsea had joined the race for the Spaniard, and hoped to swoop for him under United’s noses. This would’ve been a huge blow to Mourinho’s side who are in desperate need of a new no.9 after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the man at the forefront of most of their goals during the 16/17 season.

However, despite things quieting down of late, The Sun have reported that The Red Devils’ pursuit of Morata is still making significant progress behind the scenes, and that no Chelsea offer has been tabled. Morata has kept to himself regarding a move to Old Trafford, but there is speculation coming from various sources that the man himself is interested in the move with only the clubs agreeing a fee set to be the biggest stepping stone.

United are said to be hoping to wrap up a deal for Morata before they head to the United States for pre-season on July 9th. Madrid are believed to be holding out for around £78m, but United do not agree with that valuation.

The La Liga champions are hunting for Kylian Mbappé (who isn’t), and are favourites to land the Frenchman. Should they land their man, it will leave Morata even further behind in the pecking order at Los Blancos – perhaps forcing the striker even closer to being out the door.
