United Make Approach For England International With Club Convinced That Deal Can Be Done

Manchester United have approached Tottenham about signing Eric Dier, according to the Football Insider.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be a big fan of the England international with his versatility to play in a number of positions playing a part in their interest.

Dier has had issues with injuries and illness over the past few months, and United feel Spurs may be persuaded to sell up as he is no longer an integral member of the starting eleven.

The London club have a limited transfer budget and manager Mauricio Pochettino may consider selling the 25-year-old in order to fund other transfer activity.

Spurs are keen on recruiting Real Betis’s Giovani Lo Celso, as are United, according to the Spanish press, but after having a £53m offer rejected, they may need to up their bid to £66m to clinch the signing.

Dier has previously been on United’s radar, with the Manchester club having tried to sign the midfielder in the 2017 summer transfer window.
