United Look To ‘Open Talks’ As They Eye Double Swoop For Striker And Midfielder

Manchester United will seek to “open talks” with Wolves over signing Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves, according to Goal.com reporter Alexander Netherton.

The journalist claims the Red Devils’ transfer committee is keen on recruiting younger players, and with the club looking for a new central midfielder, the 22-year-old Neves is seen as the perfect target.

In Jimenez’s case, United have been looking at alternatives after losing out on Erling Haaland to Borussia Dortmund. There had been reports that Lyon’s Moussa Dembele was being eyed but it seems they have turned their attentions to the Wolves striker instead.

Asked about the Manchester club’s interest in the Mexican international after yesterday’s FA Cup tie, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he rated the player but refused to be drawn on whether any bid will be made:

“He’s another good player we’ve been linked with. He came on and did well but I cannot comment on these situations.”

Jimenez has scored 17 goals in 32 appearances for Wolves this campaign, having already surpassed his total for the whole of last season.
