United Lodge Enquiry For 40M Rated Senegalese Speedster As They Prepare Sancho Backup Plan

Manchester United have made an enquiry about Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, according to reports in England.  The Senegalese international is believed to be a backup option if the Red Devils fail to land Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho before the transfer deadline.

Sarr was the subject of interest from Liverpool earlier in the summer, but it is thought that the Hornets’ £40m asking price put them off from making a formal bid.

Sancho is, though, still believed to be United’s number one target, and it is said they will make one final push to sign the 20-year-old before Monday’s deadline. Reports earlier this week suggested that a £90m offer is in the works. It would comprise of £75m upfront and £15m in addons, but it would still fall £20m short of Dortmund’s reported €120m (£109m) valuation.

With that being the case, it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have put a backup plan in place with Sarr in order to guarantee a winger is brought in ahead of the transfer window closing.
