United join the race to sign Germany international

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka is one of Europe’s hottest prospects, and has represented Germany at every level – more recently breaking into Joachim Low’s senior side.

The German is an all-round midfielder, predominantly playing in the centre of midfield but also having the ability to play further forward and on either side.

He is out of contract with Schalke come the end of the season, and will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1st.

Of course, his side want him to stay and have offered him a lucrative deal which would make him the highest paid player in the club’s history. But the German club find themselves in the same position as last season when defender Sead Kolasinac agreed a deal to join Arsenal on a free transfer over the summer.

It looks as if the German will leave the Bundesliga side, and Schalke’s loss will be a huge gain for whoever wins the race to sign him.

Goretzka has scored six goals in his first 12 appearances for Germany, and is a star player for Schalke.

He is being perused by some of the best team’s in the world, including the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Juventus. Now, according to reports, Manchester United have entered that race.
