United Join Race To Sign 53M Rated Defender Who Is Ten Hag’s ‘Great Obsession’

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni next summer, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish website reports that the United boss has a “great obsession” about signing the Italian international, who will have just one year left on his contract at the end of the season.

Real Madrid and Manchester City are also said to be interested in Bastoni, while the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham have been mentioned as potential suitors in past transfer windows.

The centre-back is left-footed so he would likely provide competition for Lisandro Martinez if he were to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Inter would be prepared to offload Bastoni for around €60m (£53m) but that figure is likely to be lowered if he does hold off signing a contract extension. We shall have to wait and see whether ten Hag gets his man.
