United Join Liverpool And City In Pursuit Of Portuguese Playmaker With £106m Buyout Clause

Manchester United are interested in Benfica midfielder Joao Felix, according to Record.

The Portuguese Under 21 international is being scouted by the Red Devils, as well as by Manchester City and Barcelona.

Reports in Portugal last week had indicated that Liverpool had a €70m (£62m) offer rejected by Benfica for Felix with the Portuguese side holding out for a higher fee.

The 19-year-old is believed to have a huge €120m (£106m) buyout clause in order to ward off potential suitors.

Felix only made his first-team debut for Benfica back in August against Boavista but he has gone on to make 18 appearances this season.

He usually plays in the pocket behind the striker, but he can also play out wide. His best performance came earlier this month when he scored twice during a 4-2 win over Rio Ave.

United and other top European clubs have certainly been taking note of his recent displays, but it looks as though he will only leave the Estadio da Luz for a significant fee.
