United Join Chelsea In Race To Sign Highly Rated England International Defender

Manchester United have made Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell a primary target for the summer transfer window, according to Metro.co.uk.

The website reports that the Red Devils are ready to battle Chelsea for the 23-year-old, but they may not face a challenge from Manchester City with the Premier League champions reluctant to meet the fullback’s asking price.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has two first-choice left-backs in Brandon Williams and Luke Shaw but it is believed that the latter will be sold if they receive a good enough offer at the end of the season.

Chilwell has had a decent season so far for Leicester, having scored one goal and provided four assists in 22 appearances. The Foxes will, however, put up a fight in order to keep the defender.

Although it is unlikely that United will have to shell out as much as they paid for Harry Maguire, Leicester are a club who tend to drive a hard bargain.
