United interested in 50m Harry Maguire

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguire this summer.

The centre-back enjoyed an excellent World Cup campaign with England, and was hailed as one of the stars of Southgate’s team.

It has merited a number of rumours surrounding his future, most recently seeing him linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The latest reports suggest Jose Mourinho’s side could be in line to bid £50m for the defender, with Leicester unwilling to sell for anything less.

Riyad Mahrez, who was Maguire’s team mate at Leicester until his £60m move to Manchester City this week, has praised the talent of the defender and says he deserves a move to a bigger club.

“He’s a very good player,” he told the media. “Since the day he came to Leicester, the season he had last season as well, it doesn’t surprise me to see him succeeding at the World Cup. Of course he deserves to play higher. But Leicester is a good club as well, so it’s him, he’ll have to decide and see.”

The 25-year-old has had a fairy tale career so far, starting life at Sheffiled United before moving to Hull City, where he spent three years before switching to Leicester last summer for a fee of £12m.

It means the Foxes could be in line for a big pay out if they decide to sell their man, who won the club’s Player of the Year award last season.
