Latest Manchester United Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund And 8 Others

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that Marcus Rashford was substituted during the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City due to injury.

Speaking in his post-match press interview, the Red Devils boss also revealed that Jonny Evans was taken off due to a fitness issue:

“He [Rashford] had his problems with an injury so he fought for 70 minutes, but then I had to take him off and same with Jonny Evans. Also, he fought to be in this game, but after I think 60, 65 minutes it was over and we had to take him off.”

At the time, ten Hag didn’t want to estimate how long both players would be sidelined for but there is an expectation that they will be fit to play this weekend.

Harry Maguire could also be back in contention, having missed the last two fixtures due to a knock.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 9th March v Everton

Rasmus Hojlund has spoken out on when he could return from injury. Asked whether he will be able to feature against Everton on Saturday, the striker replied.

“We’ll see.”

That cryptic response may suggest that he is still some way off making his comeback. The Dane last played in the 2-1 win over Luton Town last month.

It is still hoped that Hojlund will be available before the international break, along with the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka (muscular), Mason Mount (calf) and Tyrell Malacia (knee).

Expected Return Date – Sunday 17th March v Liverpool (FA Cup)

Anthony Martial underwent groin surgery in late January and his recovery time were said to be around 10 weeks.

It means that the Frenchman should be due to return to training at the beginning of April. Whether that means he will be available right after the international break, we shall have to wait and see.

Lisandro Martinez is in the same situation as Martial. The defender picked up a knee injury at the start of February and was set to be sidelined for two months.

A return against Chelsea in April is pencilled in but he may need more time to regain match fitness.

Expected Return Date – Thursday 4th April v Chelsea

There are doubts over whether Luke Shaw will play again for the club this campaign.

The defender was forced off just before half-time during the win over Luton last month, and it is believed that he sustained a recurrence of a past leg injury.

Due to the seriousness of the problem, it is unlikely that he will return before the season comes to an end in May.

Expected Return Date – Unknown
