United ‘Impressed’ By 11.7M Rated Ukrainian Who Is Being Eyed As A Reguilon Alternative

Manchester United have been “impressed” by the performances of Dynamo Kyiv fullback Vitaliy Mykolenko, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The local newspaper say that the Red Devils do not see signing a left-back as a priority this summer but they are monitoring both Mykolenko and Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon as potential options to provide competition for Luke Shaw.

Mykolenko has eight caps for Ukraine, although he did miss the two international fixtures this month due to injury. The 21-year-old, who is valued at £11.7m by Transfermarkt, is a regular in Dynamo Kyiv’s first team, having started 36 games in all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.

The defender can also play in the middle of defence and, with United keen on signing up a left-footed centre-back, they may consider the Ukrainian as someone who could fill multiple positions in the squad. Whether they will follow up their interest with a formal bid, we shall have to wait and see.
