United Identify Haaland Alternative As They Target Swedish Ace With 60M Release Clause

Manchester United are the latest Premier League club to take a keen interest in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, according to reports in the English media.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been mentioned as potential suitors in recent days and the Red Devils are now thought to be looking at the Swedish international as a potential alternative to the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Isak was La Liga’s Young Player of the Season, after scoring 17 goals for Sociedad, and he has reinforced his budding reputation by impressing for Sweden in their opening group game against Spain earlier this week.

The 21-year-old has a €70m (£60m) release clause, which would make him a cheaper option than either Haaland or Kane, but ironically, Haaland’s future could have a knock-on effect in terms of what happens to Isak.

The forward’s previous club Borussia Dortmund have a €30m (£26m) buyback option and they could use it if they offload Haaland this summer.
