United Handed Vital Injury Boost Ahead Of Club Brugge Clash

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been pictured back in training this week ahead of the Europa League game against Club Brugge:

The Scottish international has not played since Boxing Day after injuring his knee in the opening minutes of the 4-1 win over Newcastle.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about the fitness of McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah ahead of the game against Chelsea, and he suggested the Scot was closing in on a return to full fitness:

“They won’t be ready for Chelsea, those two or Tim [Fosu-Mensah], but they’ve stepped up their recovery and they won’t be too far away.”

After almost three months out, though, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll feature in the starting line up in Bruges tomorrow night, but there is a possibility that he could make the bench.

The midfield duo of Fred and Nemanja Matic have done pretty well in McTominay’s absence but the 23-year-old’s dynamism and energy in the middle of the park have certainly be missed, and fans will be keenly anticipating his return.
