United Handed Boost As Key Centre-Back Target Leaves Door Open To Summer Move

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has revealed that he doesn’t know where he’ll be playing next season.

When asked about his future after Senegal’s 2-0 win over Tanzania in the African Cup of Nations yesterday, he replied:

“I don’t know [if I’ll still be at Napoli next year]. I think so. But I have to play the AFCON and then after that I’ll go back to Napoli.”

Reports in Italy have heavily linked Manchester United with a move for Koulibaly this summer with an £84m offer said to have been rejected.

However, the Red Devils are not the only Premier League club believed to have an interest in the 28-year-old, with Liverpool and Manchester City also reportedly keen.

With City closing in on signing Leicester City’s Harry Maguire while the Reds have been put off by the Kouliabaly’s price tag, United are still firmly in the race for the centre-back.

Napoli are, though, said to be holding out for €120m (£107m); a huge figure which may deter United and many other clubs from making a bid.

Koulibaly’s comments do, however, indicate that he would be open to a switch this summer.
