Chelsea are “not really in the race” to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this summer, according to Goal France.

Both the Blues and Manchester United have been linked with a bid for the 25-year-old, after it was revealed that the player is refusing to sign a new contract at his current club.

Coman’s asking price is thought to be steep, with reports suggesting that Bayern may demand over €70m (£60m) for the Frenchman, despite the fact that he has only two years remaining on his current deal.

United are unlikely to be tempted at that price either, and it seems likely that their interest will fade if they do manage to secure the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

However, if a move for the England international did run into difficulties, it does now appear there will not be any competition from Chelsea if they look to Coman as their main alternative.
