United Get Good Draw In Europa League

Manchester United got knocked out of the Champions League last week by VFL Wolfsburg in a 3-2 defeat in Germany. United ended up finishing 3rd in their group and in so doing qualified for the Europa League which may make their season more complicated as they will now play their Premier League matches on Sunday after their Europa League matches happen on a Thursday as long as they are in the competition.

As Sky Sports have reported United have got a relatively easy draw some would say having got Danish side Midtjylland in the round of 32. However given United’s recent run of form – only 3 wins in their last 12 games – Louis Van Gaal’s men might find Midtjylland quite a challenge as they did knock out Southampton in the Europa League qualifiers in August earlier this year.

Midtjylland are clearly no mugs as they won their League title last season – the Superliga and they only failed to make the Champions League group stages when they were knocked out by Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia.

With rumours of LVG losing members of his dressing room and the massive number of serious injuries at the club, United certainly have their work cut out for them if they hope to do any damage in the Europa League or the FA Cup and they have only maintained their sole grasp on 4th place in the Champions League thanks to Newcastle coming back to beat Tottenham yesterday.

It is certainly going to be an interesting Christmas at the Theatre of Dreams.
