Manchester United fans are delighted with Fred’s first display in a Red shirt after the Brazilian starred in the club’s penultimate game of pre-season.
United ended what has been a difficult tour of America on a high as they beat Real Madrid 2-1 in Miami.
First-half goals from Alexis Sanchez and Anderson Herrera gave United a 2-0 lead in the first-half, before Karim Benzema pulled one back after the break for Julen Lopetegui’s side.
But they couldn’t find an equaliser as United held on for a memorable win at the Hard Rock Stadium.
One of the biggest positives from the game from a United was the performance of Fred, who was making his first start for the club following his £52 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this summer.
The Brazil international – who was an un-used substitute at the World Cup – showed some classy touches in his 68 minute showing in Miami, and linked up nicely with both Juan Mata and Ander Herrera in the middle of park.
His footwork in particular caught the eye – the Brazilian more often than not finding space in extremely compact areas.
United have craved a creative player in the heart of midfield over the past two seasons, and if the 25-year-old’s performance versus Madrid its anything to go by, they may have found just the man …
Fred's brilliant performance against Real Madrid, he looks like a very tidy player ?

FRED is Fantastic! A Carrick type of player who always looks forward and spots a Pass!

Combination play between Fred, Alexis Sánchez and Juan Mata is looking tasty. Sánchez, especially, looks fit and firing ready for the new season.

Fred and Sanchez are everything Utd needed, silky operators.

I’ve just watched a 2 minute highlight video of this Fred fella and I’m not one for getting carried away but it could be Zico in disguise.

A midfield three of Pogba, Fred and Andreas is actually a dream. With Matic to come into things and Herrera there too, I think we’ve finally sorted out our midfield problems.

Good start to Fred's United career. Tough to make any real judgement until our midfield takes shape, with Pogba and Matic to return. Hard not to be happy with that display. ??

Now I understand why José wanted Fred over Fabinho.
