United ‘Failed’ Falcao

United ‘Failed’ Falcao

2 years ago Manchester United had Radamel Falcao on their books and all seemed well. The excitement of a Rooney, Van Persie and Falcao partnership was all too much to handle, especially as Di Maria had also signed. Of course, it didn’t take long for everyone to realise that what sometimes looks good on paper doesn’t necessarily translate into reality.

After an extremely disappointing season at United, where the prolific striker managed just 4 goals, the Colombian switched to Chelsea – and things didn’t get much better. With Falcao spending 2 years in English football, a man who was touted as one of the best goalscorers in the world managed just 5 goals.

Now, having moved back to Monaco, Falcao is banging the goals in as the French side sit top of Ligue 1. The club’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has a lot to say about Falcao’s couple of seasons in England, saying that it was Chelsea and United’s fault that the striker didn’t reach his potential.

“Both clubs in England failed to relaunch him,” he told the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether Manchester United or Chelsea did not have the patience or the desire to do that but I am quite sure this year we will see Falcao at his previous best.”

“He is the same Falcao as ever. We’ve seen that in pre-season. He scores goals, he’s there and he is motivated, we are motivated and I think this will be his year.”

“If you sign a player of this magnitude after a big injury it takes time and games to get him back into shape,” he added.”

“This is what we will do and what Manchester United and Chelsea didn’t do, failed to do or didn’t want to do. We all see the qualities are there and it is a matter of time. You will see a very different Falcao this season tot he one you saw in England.”
