United Eye Move For French Teenage Sensation After Starring In UEFA Youth League

Manchester United are keen on snapping up Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki, according to Footmercato.net.

Despite only being 15 years of age, the Frenchman was selected to play in the UEFA Youth League earlier this season.

Cherki became the youngest ever scorer in the competition when he scored in the 4-1 win over Manchester City in the group stages back in September.

His current deal expires in the summer, and while Lyon had been confident that they could secure the player to a professional contract, talks have stalled in recent months.

United are not allowed to talk to Cherki directly as he is still contracted to Lyon, but it is believed that discussions have taken place with the teenager’s parents.

When the midfielder turns 16 in August, he will be eligible to sign for any team he wishes if Lyon still haven’t agreed a new contract, and it seems United are currently leading the race for his signature.
