United ‘Eye’ Deal For 51M Rated Midfielder Who Has Scored 15 Goals This Season

Manchester United are tracking Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Pedro Goncalves, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Mike McGrath.

The journalist claims that the Red Devils have kept an “eye” on the Portuguese Under 21 international, following the 22-year-old’s excellent form, which has seen him score 15 league goals this season.

Goncalves can also play as a winger and it appears that United are weighing up whether to target the midfielder as a potential option to strengthen their right flank.

With a release clause of €60m (£51m), Goncalves would certainly be a cheaper option than someone like Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho but, it must be said, that his best performances have been in more central positions this campaign.

In an extraordinary run of ten goals in six league appearances between October and December, Goncalves played as number 10 in five of those matches, so there are question marks over whether he’d be as effective out on the wing.

United are not the only English club who have been linked with the Portuguese star in recent weeks, with reports also suggesting that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the player.
