United Duo Could Join Spurs

Manchester United could be set to allow two of their stars to join Tottenham Hotspurs, claim various reports this week.

United duo Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez have both been targeted by the north London club, who United face on the first day of the season. It is thought that both players could leave this summer if the Red Devils receive a suitable offer.

Both Spurs and Aston Villa, Young’s former club, have expressed an interest in the Englishman, who is yet to receive a new contract at the club despite there being just 1 year left to run.

The 30-year-old played a huge role in United’s Champions League qualification, and received huge praise from the manager and fans alike after previously being criticised at the club.

Manchester United’s new signing Memphis Depay and the supposed arrival of Pedro could push Young further out the door, even though the winger has started every game so far on their pre-season tour.

Young said last week: “I’m at one of the biggest clubs in the world so I want to stay here as long as possible.”

“That’s exactly what I want to do. It’s in the club’s hands now so I will have to see how it goes.”

“I want to go out and play and at the moment I am on tour so I am trying to enjoy myself.”

“I hope we can sort things out. There have been preliminary talks so I am just looking to go out on the pitch and leave my agent to take care of that.”

As for Javier Hernandez, Spurs are said to be on the lookout for a new striker with Adebayor and Soldado almost certain to leave. United manager Louis van Gaal has insisted Chicharito is a part of his plans for next season, but if the north London club stump up around £10-15m for the player, it would surely test LvG’s resolve.
