United Draw Up TEN Player Shortlist With £435M Squad Overhaul Planned Ahead Of Summer Transfer Window

Manchester United are planning an overhaul of the first team squad that could cost €500m (£435m), according to El Pais.

The Spanish publication claims that manager Erik ten Hag wants to bring in at least five new players during the summer transfer window.

To that end, ten Hag and the club’s recruitment team have drawn up a ten-player shortlist as they look to strengthen all areas of the team.

At centre-back, the Red Devils are targeting Napoli’s Kim Min-Jae and Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo. In midfield, they have identified the likes of Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Barca’s Frenkie de Jong as potential targets.

Up front, they are considering moves for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. United may also strengthen their options on the left wing, with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman on the club’s radar.

Can United actually spend £435m this summer?

It’s probably wise to treat this report from El Pais with caution for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there is still no clarity about who United’s owner will be so no decisions have been made about the transfer budget.

Secondly, there are Financial Fair Play considerations. It is believed that, without player sales, the Red Devils may only be able to spend around £100m.
