United Decide Against Reviving Bid For £50m Rated Midfield General

Manchester United have decided against making a second attempt to sign Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The local newspaper says sources at the club have played down talk about reviving a bid for the 22-year-old. The Red Devils reportedly enquired about the Magpies star last summer, but the Tynesiders’ £50m asking price is said to have put them off from making a formal offer.

United are believed to be happy with the likes of Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic, but they are reportedly looking at further additions in the summer.

The potential departure of Paul Pogba means the club’s scouting department are looking for a potential replacement for the Frenchman, while another specialist holding midfielder is also being considered.

However, Longstaff has now fallen off the club’s radar, and following a rather mediocre season for Newcastle, it is not surprising that United have decided to look elsewhere.
