United Dealt Significant Blow In Attempts To Sign Erling Haaland

Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland has visited the training grounds of both RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund ahead of a possible move to Germany, according to Sky Sports.

The Norwegian international was reportedly watched by Manchester United’s top scout as Salzburg lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Tuesday night, but Sky claim a move to Leipzig is looking the likeliest possibility at the moment.

Haaland used to be managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde and it was hoped that the connection would help facilitate a move to Old Trafford.

However, Leipzig appear to have the advantage with manager Julian Nagelsmann seeing him as a perfect fit for his frontline. Not only that, but it is believed the teenager is very keen to play alongside Timo Werner.

Both Nagelsman and Red Bull’s head of sport Ralf Rangnick are now said to be in the process of persuading Haaland that Leipzig is the right move for him.

The 19-year-old has scored an impressive 28 goals in 22 appearances, but if United do miss out on him, they will likely turn their attentions to another striker as they look to reinforce their squad.
