United Dealt Setback As New Signing Picks Up Injury On International Duty

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has picked up a “knock” whilst training with the England team, manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed.

The 21-year-old is now a doubt for his country’s World Cup qualifier against Hungary tomorrow night, and it is unclear how long he will be out for.

Sancho has had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, following his £73m move from Borussia Dortmund in July. He picked up an illness which meant he wasn’t able to build up his fitness following a late return to preseason.

The England international did start his first game for the Red Devils in the 1-0 win over Wolves at the weekend, but he didn’t make a great impression on his full debut.

It’s unlikely Sancho’s latest setback will affect his participation in United’s match versus Newcastle after the international break but it is hardly ideal, considering the issues he has faced already since his arrival at the club.
