United Dealt Major Injury Blow As Raphael Varane’s Return Date Is Revealed

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane could be out for up to six weeks, according to The Mirror.

The France international sustained an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw against Sevilla at Old Trafford just over ten days ago, but it has taken a while to fully diagnose the extent of the problem due to swelling.

It appears that Varane will now miss the last eight Premier League fixtures, including key games against the likes of Tottenham, Brighton and Chelsea.

The Mirror report that United’s medical staff believe the France international could return by the end of May but his season appears to be over, for all intents and purposes, unless the Red Devils reach the FA Cup final.

It will be a big setback for manager Erik ten Hag, who will also be without Lisandro Martinez for the remaining fixtures this campaign after the Argentine broke a metatarsal.

From the looks of things, ten Hag will have to rely on his second-choice centre-back pairing Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
