United dealt huge blow in pursuit of Chelsea superstar

Manchester United have been health an huge blow in their pursuit of Chelsea star Willian after Maurizio Sarri insisted the Brazilian will stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Willian has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months after a difficult last season under former manager Antonio Conte.

The Brazil international fell out of favour with the Italian towards the end of the campaign, and was left out of the starting line-up for Chelsea’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.

And following a refusal to speak to the media subsequent to the victory at Wembley, it was widely reported Jose Mourinho – who worked with Willian during his time at Chelsea – was preparing a to offer him a way out of Stamford Bridge.

Reports last week suggested Chelsea had accepted a £60 million offer for Willian from United.

However new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who is keen to keep the Brazilian under his wing, says there is no problem with former Shakhtar Donetsk star and that he expects him to remain a Chelsea player this season.

“I spoke yesterday with him about him being late, but not his future,” he said, “It was a very positive conversation and I am very happy about it. I think there is not a Willian problem.”

When asked if he thought Willian would stay at Chelsea this summer, Sarri answered.

“Yes, I do. Very confident.”
