United Dealt Another Injury Setback As Key Star Limps Out Of International Fixture

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial picked up a knee problem in France’s 2-0 win over Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier yesterday evening.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury after half-time but, despite initially continuing after suffering the issue, he was later replaced by Kylian Mbappe just before the hour mark.

Martial is now a major doubt for Sunday’s game against Brighton. The Frenchman has been struggling with his fitness recently, having missed three matches over the last month due to hip and muscular problems.

If the striker is unavailable for this weekend’s game, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to start Edinson Cavani with Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood having both withdrawn from international duty due to their own injuries.

The Red Devils could have up to five players missing for the match this weekend. Juan Mata and Phil Jones are unlikely to be fit either, with both having had long spells out of the side.
