United Could Get 13M Discount For La Liga Star With Club Having Made It ‘Very Clear’ They Want To Sign The Player

Villarreal are prepared to sell Pau Torres for €50m (£43m) this summer, according to AS. The Spanish publication claim that the Yellow Submarine won’t hold out for the defender’s €65m (£56m) release clause.

It means that Manchester United, and other interested clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City could get the player for £13m less than previously expected.

Torres is on the Red Devils’ list of transfer targets, with AS reporting that the Manchester club have made it “very clear” to the 24-year-old’s representatives that they are considering making a bid.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is, however, looking at a number of different options. Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane has been heavily linked, while Lille’s Sven Botman and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde are also said to have been scouted this season.

Torres’s new asking price may make him a more attractive purchase, with the Spanish international having impressed both in La Liga and the Europa League over the course of the campaign.
