Manchester United are weighing up a possible bid for Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans in January, according to reports in the Spanish media,

The Belgian international has been heavily linked with Arsenal, but his signature could be up for grabs when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Tielemans’ contract expires at the end of the season and Leicester will be keen to offload him, even for a pretty low price, to prevent him from leaving for nothing next summer.

United are thought to be still looking to strengthen their options in midfield, even after signing Casemiro from Real Madrid for £70m.

It is believed that Tielemans could take some of the weight off Christian Eriksen as a more attack-minded option, with the two players being used in rotation.

What that means for Donny van de Beek, though, it remains to be seen. It was thought that Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford would lead to the Dutchman being given more game time but that hasn’t proven to be the case so far.
