Manchester United have added Velez Sarsfield winger Thiago Almada to their list of potential alternatives for Jadon Sancho, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Bournemouth’s’ David Brooks and Schalke’s Rabbi Matondo are also being watched with the Red Devils keen to ensure that they strengthen the right flank when the transfer window opens.

Almada was actually the subject of interest from Manchester City last summer but he signed a new contract at Velez, which includes a release clause set at €22m (£20m).

The Argentine can play in a number of positions, playing off the right-wing, as a number 10 or as a left-winger.  The 19-year-old does, however, have limited experience of senior football having played just 46 times for Velez.

Almada’s ability has also come to the attention of a number of other European clubs, as well as United and City, with Atletico Madrid keeping close tabs on the Argentinian Under 20 international.
