Manchester United are likely to announce the signings of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane and Atletico Madrid fullback Kieran Tripper at “the end of next week”, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reports that the Red Devils are expected to “close in” on the two deals very soon, with Varane set to be snapped up for £50m, while Trippier will cost in the region of £18m.
Negotiations for Varane have been going on for weeks, with it also being claimed that Paris-Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City were in the running for the defender. However, the 28-year-old is believed to have agreed a move to Old Trafford, having signed off on a five-year contract.
The Trippier deal is more surprising, considering the Spanish media had suggested that the former Tottenham player was not for sale. The Sun, however, say talks are now in the “final stages” with both transfers now very likely to happen.
