United Can Win The League

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says his team are not out of the title race. The Red Devil’s sit nine points off top spot in the League, but Mourinho has refused to give up on the title and believe’s it is still anyone’s to claim.

Mourinho’s time at United has been fairly slow despite a good start. The Portuguese has come under scrutiny at times after winning just five league games all season, including 3 straight home draws. However, with a game against West Ham tomorrow to look forward to, the shape of the league could very easily change should United pick up all 3 points. Mourinho is aware of how quickly things can change in football, and explained how – with a small dig at Arsene Wenger in the progress.

“When I won the last title 18 years ago – sorry, 18 months ago – I had something like 10 points advantage and then in one month I had the same points as Man City,” Mourinho said slyly.

“We recovered and won that title. But you can recover points. Other teams can lose points. During the season there are moments where everything goes against you and where everything goes in your favour.”

“We know that the game is not over – but the reality is that there is a distance, and there are many quality teams. It’s a very difficult competition, but let’s go match by match and see what happens. We play another difficult game on Sunday – let’s see if we can get the three points.”

It is clearly a difficult task ahead if Manchester United are to push for the title, let alone top 4, but with a slowly improving squad Mourinho is developing it could come as little surprise to some if the gap is closed over the festive period.
