United Attempt To Hijack Deal For Dutch Midfield Maestro But Decision Is Not In Their Hands

Manchester United are trying to hijack Real Madrid’s deal for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, according to Marca. The Spanish newspaper claim the Red Devils have made a “last-ditch” attempt to sign the 22-year-old.

The Dutch international reportedly already has an agreement in place with Real. The La Liga side originally made their move last summer but a transfer was not finalised as they couldn’t get Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez off their books.

Marca say Real would have to decide against taking up their option to sign van de Beek in order for United to complete any deal, but considering he is still an Ajax player, there is likely some debate over what agreement the Spanish side have in place.

United are keen to add more goals to their midfield and the Dutchman could certainly provide them with another option, having scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances this season.
