Manchester United are keen on beating Liverpool to the signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, according to the Mirror. Jurgen Klopp’s side were linked earlier this week with a move for the German in January but it is believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also looking to snap up the 23-year-old.
The striker only signed a new deal in the summer after seeing a move to Bayern Munich fail to materialise. However, a release clause was inserted into the contract that means he can leave for another club for just £27m.
Werner has been in excellent form this campaign, having bagged 13 goals in 15 games, with representatives from United having kept a close eye on him this season.
With the Red Devils having scored just 13 goals in total in the Premier League, after drawing another blank in the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth yesterday, a move for another forward in January is looking like a key priority for the club.
