United Are ‘Willing’ To Offer 43M To Sign La Liga Defender But PL Rival Have ‘Ace Up Their Sleeve’

Manchester United are “willing” to table an offer in the region of €50m (£43m) for Villarreal defender Pau Torres, according to La Razon.

Despite being labelled as the “great favourite” to secure the centre-back’s signature, though, the Spanish news outlet claim it is Tottenham that have an “ace up their sleeve” when it comes to negotiations.

Giovani Lo Celso spent last season on loan at Villarreal and offering the Argentinian international as part of their bid for Torres could swing things in Spurs’s favour.

However, La Razon also point out that Torres did reject an approach from the North London club last year, which the player did speak about publicly.

It means that United and other Premier League clubs who have shown an interest in the 25-year-old, such as Chelsea and Manchester City, may still have a chance of securing the player’s signature. We shall see how the situation evolves in the coming days.
