United Are ‘Considering A Move’ For £43.5M Rated Bundesliga Star But They May Have To Fight Off Chelsea To Get Him

Manchester United are “considering a move” for Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, according to The Independent.

Despite manager Erik ten Hag insisting that he wants current number one David De Gea to stay and sign a new deal, the Red Devils are prepared to bring in another player to provide competition for the Spaniard.

Kobel was originally linked with United in March, and it is believed that the Manchester club have maintained their interest in the Swiss international, who could cost as much as €50m (£43.5m).

They are unlikely to be the only team pursuing the shot-stopper either, with The Independent claiming that Chelsea are also keen on securing his services.

A lot will depend on whether Dortmund are prepared to let Kobel leave. They are said to be trying to tie down the 25-year-old to a new contract but if he doesn’t sign an extension, the Bundesliga club may be willing to sell.
