United And Spurs Enter Battle To Sign 22M Rated Spanish International Defender

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Chelsea had been heavily linked with a move for the Spanish international but the signing of Ben Chilwell from Leicester means Frank Lampard’s side have dropped out of the race for the defender.

It is believed that United, along with Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus are now the main contenders to snap up Reguilon. The 23-year-old does not have a future at the Bernabeu, with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Spaniard’s impressive performances on loan at Sevilla will certainly have caught United’s eye and, with the club having looked at a number of left-backs in recent weeks, it would not be a surprise if the Red Devils stepped up their interest in the player.

Reguilon could be available for a relatively low fee as well, with Real said to be asking for between €20m (£18m) and €25m (£22m).
