Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are the teams that are “most interested” in signing Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, according to A BOLA.

The Portuguese tabloid claims that Benfica are “aware” that offers in the region of €60m (£51.6m) could be submitted for the Portuguese international but they are determined to keep hold of the player.

Ramos scored 27 times in all competitions last season and he is a key player for manager Roger Schmidt, who wants to hold on to the forward for at least another season.

It remains to be seen what the Benfica’s hierarchy think about the situation. The 22-year-old has a €120m (£103m) release clause so there is no pressure to sell for a lower price but there will be a decision to make if a formal offer is tabled.

Ten Hag is a fan of Ramos

A BOLA report that United manager Erik ten Hag “admires” Ramos’s abilities, and there is a chance that a “concrete offer” could be made by the Red Devils.

However, the Manchester club are currently considering a number of different targets as they look to strengthen their frontline.

United are eyeing alternatives

While Ramos has been scouted for quite some time, it does appear as if he isn’t the top priority at the moment. Reports suggest that United have tabled two bids for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund instead.

The Danish international seems to be the number one option currently. However, if they can’t agree a deal for the striker then they may switch their focus.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani is also known to be high up the shortlist so you would have to say that a formal approach for Ramos is looking unlikely. Of course, things could change, but we shall have to wait and see how things develop over the summer.
