United And PL Rivals Could Sign Portuguese Speedster For Just 62M If New Release Clause Is Agreed

AC Milan winger Rafael Leao wants a buyout clause worth just €70m (£62m) in his new contract, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Portuguese international, who has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, has less than eighteen months left on his current deal, but his agents are demanding that his €150m (£132m) release fee be cut in half for the player to sign an extension.

At the moment, Milan are said to have no intention of agreeing to such a request, although they are slowly being backed into a corner due to Leao’s situation.

If the 23-year-old doesn’t sign a new deal, his value will begin to depreciate significantly and the Rossoneri may not be able to sell him next summer for a price higher than the requested release clause anyway.

United are known to be keen admirers of Leao, although it remains to be seen whether they would firm up their interest if the player does become available at the end of the season.
