United And City Locked In Battle To Sign £2.5m Israeli Wonderkid

Manchester United and Manchester City are both looking to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Ilay Elmkies, according to the Sun.

West Ham are also believed to be in the hunt for the 19-year-old with the player likely to be available this summer.

Elmkies has just one year left on his contract at Hoffenheim and could be sold for as little as £2.5m.

The Israeli has been on City’s radar since he scored against them for Hoffenheim’s Under 19s in the UEFA Youth League back in October.

Elmkies has been at the Bundesliga club for the last four years but has yet to make the breakthrough into the first team setup.

The teenager is a central midfield player, with an excellent passing range and with United keen on signing the most talented young players this summer, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping the youngster chooses a move to Old Trafford ahead of their rivals.
