United And Chelsea Make Contact As Race For 60M Rated Bundesliga Star Ramps Up

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been in contact with Bayer Leverkusen about signing Edmond Tapsoba, according to reports in the German media.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Arsenal were keen on the 22-year-old but it now appears there will be three English clubs involved in the battle for the Burkina Faso international.

Tapsoba has been linked with United in the past so it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have now decided to firm up their interest in the defender.

The Red Devils are said to be ahead of Arsenal in the race, with the Gunners not being seen as an attractive destination by the player. However, Chelsea’s involvement means it will be a challenge to secure his signature.

It is believed Tapsoba’s price tag is around the €70m (£60m) mark and, taking into account his lack of experience, that would be a steep price, considering the likes of Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde could be available at lower amounts. We shall see how this transfer story devekops.
